Dr. Edad Mercier

Edad Mercier (PhD/JD) is Assistant Professor of Social Sciences at BECNO. Professor Mercier’s areas of specialization are international law, postcolonial jurisprudence, ecocriticism and historical archaeology, China-Africa studies, and la Francophonie. Her ongoing research concerns the Great Gaines cases in Louisiana, Dred Scott decision, Napoleonic Code, and constitutional narratives. At BECNO, she teaches U.S. History, French, and First Year Seminar. Previously, Professor Mercier taught at Paris Dauphine, St. John’s University in Queens, New York, and NYU Shanghai. She holds a PhD in World History from St. John’s University and JD from Albany Law School.
